Choosing A Topic

I have considered anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorder (ocd) as two topics to research. Both anxiety and ocd are a part of my life, I go through these on a daily bases unless I find some way around them, rarely. I have choose three articles to do my research upon, reflecting my topics of choice. The first one I will be talking about in this post is "Global burden of depressive disorders in the year 2000." This article is a descriptive analysis on how much of a burden on an individual these disorders can have. It concludes that disorders such as anxiety and ocd have major correlation with depression, the world's 4th leading disease for burden upon a person. Anxiety and ocd both are eligible to causing depression, which is a major public health problem going on. The second article, "The treatment gap in mental health care," focuses on the "suffering and disease burden" (Kohn, 2004) caused upon people who have anxiety and ocd but do not get any treatment for this, for which these disorders are becoming a major public health issues. Another article, "Quality of Life in Individuals With Anxiety Disorders," discusses the need for the public to understand how these two disorders impact a person's life versus a healthy individual without anxiety and ocd. Anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorder may sound like nothing, but when one goes through these on a regular bases they become part of a person's life, effecting the negatively the way one lives.
